The Mission
of Rodeo Polkville:

Rodeo Polkville promises to be great, clean family fun. That’s cause enough to provide this event, but there is another good reason. We place great emphasis on the value of the church members’ participation in mission trips and disaster relief efforts.

In past years our church has sent mission teams to Haiti, Brazil, China, Ukraine, Venezuela, and South Africa. Our Youth Group participates in annual construction and evangelistic trips to places like Raleigh, NC; Muncie, IN; Anniston, AL; Gulf Port, MS; Greenville, SC; Aiken, SC; Anchorage, AK; Youngstown, OH, Portsmouth, VA, and Mobile AL. We have sent weekend teams to Georgia, Missouri, West Virginia, Mississippi, Eastern North Carolina, and Western North Carolina to help with clean-up after floods.

Several years ago we had a team of seven church members join with others to build a church in Venezuela. Before the team left Venezuela they held worship services in the new building and new believers were baptized.  A group of fifteen youth journeyed to Culiacan, Mexico to help construct a new church, and add Sunday School classes to an existing church in the center of the city. The group learned that God’s love translates into any language.

Many of you remember the fall of 1999 when Hurricane Floyd brought one of the greatest natural disasters in North Carolina history to the eastern part of the state. Polkville Baptist immediately began sending teams on weekends to help clean out flooded homes. The impact of that work burdened the hearts of our members to do even more. The church decided to adopt a home to see it through to a complete restoration. The need for funds prompted the first Rodeo at the church, in April 2000, to raise money for disaster relief. By summer’s end the restoration was complete, with all ages, young and old helping with the work.

The decision was made to continue with an annual rodeo to provide a source of funds for mission trips and disaster relief efforts, therefore Polkville Baptist continues to be active in missions. Recently in April 2010, 115 members of Polkville Baptist blitzed our own commnuity with mission projects such as a car wash, car care checks, yard sale, building projects, lawncare, and much more, all of which was made FREE to our community. Even at the yard sale we did not charge the public for any items. The entire day was about Polkville Baptist serving the community. Locally we are meeting needs in our community through a Ministry In Action Ministry where men, women, boys and girls work hand in hand on projects. Through this ministry the members of Polkville Baptist have built wheel chair ramps, removed trees, repaired porches and roof leaks, and continue to have project requests turned in weekly.

Polkville Baptist Church is passionate about missions. We love to serve the Lord and serve others.  Whether it be disaster relief or local, national or international missions, we are striving to share the love of Jesus Christ to everyone we meet.  Please consider being a part of Polkville Baptist Missions by coming to Rodeo Polkville and by praying for the Lord to bless the rodeo and all the mission opportunities that stem from it.

WE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. THANK YOU.
